Karazin University Student Elected Chair of the Kharkiv Regional Youth Congress

A Regional Youth Congress has been established in the Kharkiv region. It is headed by Mariia Bella Beigel, a student of the School of Philology at V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University. She received the highest level of support in the election for the position of Chair of the Congress.

The Congress is a representative body established to ensure the active participation of young people in shaping and implementing regional youth policy.

The inaugural meeting was attended by Oleh Syniehubov, Head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration. Viktor Mykyta, Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, joined the event online, along with Members of Parliament, Tetiana Yehorova-Lutsenko, Chair of the Kharkiv Regional Council, representatives of the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine, and more than 50 delegates from communities across the Kharkiv region.

During the meeting, the Congress also elected its leadership team. In addition to the Chair, deputies, a secretary, and ten delegates were elected to represent the Kharkiv region at the national level.

Mariia Bella Beigel thanked the young people of the Kharkiv region for their trust and emphasized the importance of cooperation between youth and public authorities.

“No decisions for young people without the participation of young people. The Congress should become a platform where young people can voice their needs, propose solutions, and actively contribute to the development of their communities and the region,” she said.

The Chair of the Kharkiv Regional Youth Congress also outlined the key priorities for its future work. These include supporting young people's mental and emotional well-being during wartime and promoting their professional self-determination. She also highlighted the important role of Karazin University in supporting and empowering young people.

The Youth Congress brings together representatives from communities across the Kharkiv region, ensuring that a wide range of young people's needs and interests are taken into account. Congress members have already begun working on proposals and initiatives aimed at fostering the development of the region's youth environment.
