University in International Associations

Since 1974, V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University has been a full-fledged member of the International Association of Universities, a leading global association of higher education institutions and organisations from around the world that was created under the auspices of UNESCO in 1950. In 1988, the University signed the Magna Charta Universitatum, a document that reflects the fundamental values and rights of European universities, as well as the principles of university autonomy and academic freedom. The signing of the Charta was initiated by the European University Association and the University of Bologna (Italy).

In 2003, the University was included in the World Directory of Medical Schools of the World Health Organization (WHO) and the International Medical Education Directory (IMED) of the Foundation for Advancement of International Medical Education (the USA).

In January 2004, V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University became a full individual member of the European University Association.

In March 2010, the University was adopted by the European Nuclear Education Network as an associate member.

On 13–16 September 2022, the University participated in the European Association for International Education International Conference, which gathered around 6300 participants from more than 90 countries. During the event, the Higher Education Sphere of Ukraine earned the ˮEAIE–2022ˮ award in the Vision and Leadership category, received by the Ministry of Education and Science on behalf of higher education institutions of Ukraine.
