Research and Practical Seminar “Biography Studies and Local History (on the Occasion of the 75th Anniversary of S. M. Kudelko)” Held

On September 15, 2026, Karazin University hosted the research and practical seminar “Biography Studies and Local History (on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of S. M. Kudelko)” in a hybrid format.

The event was dedicated to the memory of Serhii Mykhailovych Kudelko (1951–2026), a distinguished Ukrainian historian and local historian, Professor of the Department of Historiography, Heritage Studies, and Archaeology at the School of History, and longtime head of the university’s Center for Ukrainian Studies and Local History named after Academician P. T. Tronko.

The participants were welcomed by Acting Rector of Karazin University, Professor Oleksandr Holovko, Deputy Dean of the School of History, Associate Professor Yevhen Zakharchenko, and Deputy Chair of the National Union of Local Historians of Ukraine, Professor Ruslana Mankovska.

Presentations were delivered by Head of the Department of Historiography, Heritage Studies, and Archaeology, Professor Serhii Posokhov, and Associate Professor of the same department and Director of the Tronko Center, Olha Vovk.

A commemorative selection of photographs was also presented, along with a portrait of Serhii Mykhailovych Kudelko painted by People’s Artist of Ukraine Viktor Kovtun. Colleagues and friends of Serhii Mykhailovych from Kharkiv, Kyiv, Dnipro, Riga, and other cities shared their memories. The event concluded with a discussion of the concept for a future memorial book and a proposal to establish a memorial classroom named after S. M. Kudelko at Karazin University.
