We Congratulate the Karazin Community on Philologist’s Day
Every year on May 25, we celebrate Philologist’s Day — a professional holiday of those who have dedicated their lives to the study of language, literature, and cultural heritage. It is a day of guardians of the word, researchers of texts, and creators of new meanings.
In times when Ukraine is fighting for its independence and right to exist, the word has acquired unprecedented significance. It has become our powerful weapon, an unbreakable shield, and a spiritual compass. Today, philology is much more than grammar rules or literary theory. It is about protecting the national cultural space, preserving memory, and transmitting the Ukrainian voice to the world.
The true heart of linguistic and literary studies at Karazin University consists of two powerful centers — the School of Philology and the School of Foreign Languages. They complement each other harmoniously and together fulfill their noble mission with dignity:
- Nurturing a new generation of specialists: training highly qualified teachers, translators, editors, copywriters, writers, and researchers.
- Strengthening Ukrainian identity: lecturers and students actively study the Ukrainian language and literature, promoting them both within the country and abroad.
- Building intercultural bridges: the faculties remain strong centers for the study of foreign languages and world classics, integrating Ukrainian scholarship into the European context.
We sincerely congratulate the students, lecturers, alumni of the School of Philology, the School of Foreign Languages, and all Karazin community members whose lives are inseparably connected with the word!
