Meeting of the Academic Council of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University

On May 25, 2026, a regular meeting of the Academic Council of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University was held under the chairmanship of the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, Anton Panteleimonov.

Following a long-standing tradition, the event began on a ceremonial note — with the awarding of university scholars on the occasion of Science Day. For high professionalism, conscientious work, and significant personal contribution to the development of national education and science, the following distinctions were awarded:

  • Certificate of Appreciation from the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine — Head of the Department of Economics and Management at the School of Economics, Professor Larisa Tiesheva.
  • Certificates of the Karazin University — Professor of the Department of Political Science of the Education and Research Institute of Philosophy, Cultural Studies, and Political Science Tetiana Komarova, and Associate Professor of the Department of Space Radiophysics of the School of Radiophysics, Biomedical Electronics, and Computer Systems Anatolii Tsymbal.
  • Letter of Appreciation from the Rector — Head of the Education and Research Laboratory of the Education and Research Institute of Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Oleksii Artiukh, and Associate Professor of the Department of Theoretical and Applied Informatics of the School of Mathematics and Informatics Artem Panchenko.

Within the meeting, the regulatory framework for the upcoming rector elections was approved, including the Regulations on the Procedure for Electing the Rector, as well as provisions on the Organizing Committee and the Election Commission.

The Academic Council approved the updated Admission Rules for higher education in 2026. It also adopted the Procedure for Forming an Individual Educational Trajectory, which regulates students’ right to freely choose educational components.

The university continues to develop its academic staff — academic titles of Associate Professor and Senior Researcher were conferred. In addition, a number of one-time specialized academic councils were established to conduct thesis defenses for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy.

Members of the Academic Council considered issues related to the implementation of international activities of the university, which remains one of the priority areas of strategic development aimed at deepening integration into the European Higher Education Area and the European Research Area, developing academic mobility, expanding international partnerships, participating in European Union programs, and strengthening the university’s grant capacity.

A significant strengthening of the university’s grant activity has been noted. The grant portfolio covers modernization of educational programs, development of micro-qualifications, digital transformation, peace education, community resilience, natural sciences, nuclear research, bioeconomy, social entrepreneurship, democracy, and European integration.

Traditionally, members of the Academic Council approved new issues of scientific bulletins, collections, and journals for online publication and print.

Karazin University continues to move confidently along the path of development, adapt its educational process to modern requirements, and maintain high standards of scientific research.
