Associate Professor of the Department of Modern and Contemporary History Oleksandr Tumakov Has Passed Away: The Karazin Community Extends Its Condolences…

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Associate Professor of the Department of Modern and Contemporary History of the School of History, Oleksandr Ivanovych Tumakov.

Oleksandr Ivanovych taught courses and special courses on the history of the countries of Asia and Africa during the modern and contemporary periods at the Department of Modern and Contemporary History for many years. He also taught at the School of Young Historians for prospective applicants, collaborated with teachers from Kharkiv and the region, and for many years served as an author and co-organizer of the third regional stage of the All-Ukrainian History Olympiad. From 1991 to 1997, he served as Deputy Dean of the School of History for Academic Affairs and headed the Academic and Methodological Commission for many years.

Throughout his more than thirty-year teaching career at Karazin University, Oleksandr Ivanovych educated and trained a generation of young historians who successfully defended their dissertations on topics related to the modern and contemporary history of the East.

We extend our sincere condolences to the family, relatives, colleagues, and friends of Oleksandr Ivanovych.

The farewell ceremony will take place tomorrow, August 27, at 11:00 a.m. at City Cemetery No. 18.
