On 23 August, Serhiy Zhadan, Honorary Doctor of Karazin University and Ukrainian writer, poet, translator, musician, and public figure, celebrates his birthday.

Some people’s creative work is inseparably connected with a particular city. For Serhiy Zhadan, that city is Kharkiv — a city that is present in his writing, music, memories, and everyday stories. It is symbolic that he celebrates his birthday on Kharkiv City Day.
