The Karazin University Community Extends its Deepest Condolences to the Community of Kharkiv National Medical University over the Tragic Loss of its Students

The community of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University is deeply saddened and expresses its sincere condolences to the faculty, staff, and students of Kharkiv National Medical University (KNMU) following this horrific and irreparable loss.

On 5 July, it became known that 23-year-old KNMU student and graduate Nnani Adaobi Marian passed away in a hospital in Germany.

The young woman became a victim of the brutal Russian airstrike on Kharkiv's Kholodnohirskyi district on 29 June. As a result of a guided aerial bomb strike, she sustained critical injuries and burns covering approximately 90% of her body. Throughout the week, doctors fought desperately to save her life—first in the intensive care unit in Kharkiv and later in Germany, where she was evacuated for further treatment. Tragically, despite every effort, her life could not be saved.

This cynical enemy attack brought immense grief. On that tragic day, 29 June, the explosion also claimed the life of another KNMU student, Fatima Huseynova, who was killed at the scene. In total, 12 civilians were injured in the attack.

In these dark times, Kharkiv's academic community stands more united than ever. We share your pain and stand shoulder to shoulder with Kharkiv National Medical University. May the memory of these young women, whose lives, hopes, and professional futures were so cruelly cut short by the aggressor, remain eternal.
