The Academic Council Meeting Was Held at Karazin University
On August 31, 2026, the regular meeting of the Academic Council of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University was held under the chairmanship of Acting Rector Tetyana Kaganovska.
The meeting began with a minute of silence. Those present honored the memory of Ukraine’s fallen defenders on the Day of Remembrance of the Defenders of Ukraine, as well as the civilians whose lives have been claimed by Russia’s armed aggression in recent days.
The ceremonial part of the meeting included honoring the following members of the Karazin community:
- Valerii Korobov, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor, Head of the Department of Applied Mathematics at the School of Mathematics and Computer Science, with the distinction “For Service to Karazin University”;
- Olena Korotych, Doctor of Sciences in Public Administration, Professor of Higher Education at the Department of Public Administration and Civil Service of the Education and Research Institute “Institute of Public Administration,” with a certificate of merit for many years of dedicated and fruitful work, high professionalism, and a significant personal contribution to the development of education and science;
The meeting also included the conferral of academic titles in accordance with the Order of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine dated June 30, 2026:
- Hanna Bondarenko — Associate Professor in the Department of Language and Specialized Training;
- Iryna Kabachna — Associate Professor in the Department of Neurology, Psychiatry, Narcology, and Medical Psychology.
The teaching staff of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University were awarded a Certificate of Merit from the Executive Committee of the Kharkiv City Council for their high professionalism, dedicated and fruitful work during martial law in Ukraine, training highly qualified specialists, and significant contribution to the development of education and science in the city of Kharkiv.
An important part of the agenda was devoted to decisions concerning the optimization of the structure of Karazin University and issues related to ensuring the educational process.
Further evidence of the university’s consistent commitment to social responsibility was the approval of the Policy on Support for Veterans and Their Family Members at V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University.
Vice-Rector Anatolii Babichev also presented the Regulation on the Organization of Continuing Education and Professional Development at the university.
In the research section of the agenda, the Academic Council considered issues related to the certification of academic personnel, online publication, and approval for printing of a number of educational, research, and informational materials.
The meeting of the Academic Council on the eve of September 1 demonstrated Karazin University’s readiness to begin the new 2026–2027 academic year. Despite all the challenges of the present day, the university welcomes Knowledge Day with a clear strategy, updated educational programs, developed rehabilitation initiatives, and the unbreakable Karazin spirit.
