Karazin University Expands Cooperation with the Merefa Territorial Community of Kharkiv Region

On August 25, 2026, as part of the week of scientific, methodological, and practical activities “Educational Dialogue: ‘University Knowledge — Teaching Practice,’” held at the Institute of Continuing Education for teachers of various categories from gymnasiums and lyceums of the Merefa territorial community, a “Memorandum of Cooperation between V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University and the Department of Education, Culture, Youth and Sports of the Merefa City Council” was signed. At the beginning of the event, Vice-Rector for Research and Teaching Affairs Anatolii Babichev drew the participants’ attention to the results of the 2026 admission campaign at the university, characterized the priority areas of the Karazin community’s multifaceted activities, and emphasized the need to consolidate efforts to support each other in planning and implementing activities and projects aimed at developing education and science in the Merefa urban territorial community of Kharkiv Region, promoting the fullest use of the parties’ intellectual potential, and increasing the effectiveness of their activities in accordance with current legislation in the field of education. For his part, Andrii Svystun, Head of the Department of Education, Culture, Youth and Sports of the Merefa City Council, noted that the community’s educational institutions have been actively cooperating with Karazin University for a long time in educational, scientific, postgraduate, and innovation and outreach activities and require further support and deeper practical ties through the effective and rational use of the opportunities and potential of different levels of education. Following the signing of the memorandum, cooperation agreements were also signed between V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University and the municipal institutions “Merefa Lyceum No. 3” and “Merefa Lyceum ‘Perspektyva’” of the Merefa City Council of Kharkiv Region. These institutions will be the first in the community to begin direct cooperation with the university. The directors of these institutions of general secondary education, Nataliia Halichenko and Tamara Ryzhkova, noted that the agreements would make a positive and effective contribution to creating a system of continuous learning for gifted students, strengthen its practical focus, and foster students’ creative abilities through early career guidance, followed by continued education at the university. During the event, Anatolii Babichev, Andrii Svystun, and Mykhailo Tatarinov, Director of the Institute of Continuing Education, presented certificates of professional development to teachers of Ukrainian language and literature and mathematics, as well as librarians from basic and upper secondary educational institutions of the Merefa City Council, recognizing them as active participants in the educational dialogue “University Knowledge — Teaching Practice.” Andrii Svystun, the lyceum directors, and the teachers expressed their sincere gratitude to the university administration, represented by Acting Rector Tetiana Kahanovska, and to the academic and teaching staff of Karazin University for creating favorable conditions for practical innovative lifelong learning and for enabling graduates of the community’s lyceums to continue their higher education at the university.
