Education

From August 17 to 21, the Education and Research Institute “School of Physics and Technology” became a hub of cutting-edge science, lively discussions, and unforgettable experiences! These were five days packed with energy, in-depth knowledge, hands-on practice, and new connections.

What was it like? Let us take you through each day!

Day 1. Small Modular Reactors and the Ukrainian Nuclear Society

We kicked things off with representatives of the Ukrainian Nuclear Society (UkrNS) and explored the future of global and Ukrainian energy. The hot topic was Small Modular Reactors (SMRs). We discussed innovations, safety, and technological breakthroughs that are already changing the way we think about nuclear energy.

Day 2. Medical Physics and a Visit to the Regional Oncology Center

A day when theory met cutting-edge technologies in the service of life. Participants of the school visited the Regional Oncology Center, where they saw a modern linear accelerator in operation. It was a truly immersive introduction to medical physics and an opportunity to understand how physical principles help save lives every day!

Day 3. The Secrets of Materials Science in the Laboratories of the Education and Research Institute “School of Physics and Technology”

This day was entirely dedicated to hands-on work and exploring the School of Physics and Technology’s research facilities. Participants visited our materials science laboratories, familiarized themselves with advanced equipment, and learned how cutting-edge materials for extreme conditions are developed and studied.

Day 4. Battle of Minds — Hackathon on Ukraine’s Energy Strategy through 2050

A day of energy, teamwork, and brainstorming! Participants developed their own visions and solutions for Ukraine’s Energy Strategy through 2050. The project presentations were held to the highest standard, featuring remarkable ideas, well-reasoned debates, and a truly strategic approach to the future of our country!

Day 5. The Quantum Revolution and the Large Hadron Collider (LHC)

The final day immersed everyone in the world of fundamental high-energy physics. We discussed the quantum revolution, the current state of research at CERN, and the secrets of the Universe being revealed by the Large Hadron Collider.

All participants, lecturers, and mentors were incredibly pleased with the event! The school concluded with a ceremony where Karazin University Vice-Rector Anton Panteleimonov presented certificates, as well as souvenirs and prizes.

Thank you to everyone who became part of this event! You are the future of Ukrainian and global science!

The event was held with the support of the Nurecab project.

See you again at the Education and Research Institute “School of Physics and Technology”!
