Karazin University congratulates on the Independence Day of Ukraine

24 august 2023 year

32 years of Independence. 9 years of war. The struggle for freedom spanning centuries.

The history of our state stretches through the ages. On February 24, 2022, the whole world learned who we are. We discovered that we are capable of the impossible. An unconquered people who withstood their ground. We did not flee, we did not surrender. And we will stand until the end. For 547 days, we persistently continue to carry out our work. Karazin University continues to work every day, spreading education, science, and enlightenment despite the war. With each new day, the university continues on the path of light and wisdom. It continues for the sake of victory. Despite the darkness and the cold. Despite shelling and intimidation.

Where russia destroyed the university's buildings, knowledge continues to live on. It persists thanks to the people. Teachers who give lectures in shelters. Students who study without light. Scientists who develop projects for the defense of Ukraine.

And, of course, the medical professionals who fight for every life, who are already creating rehabilitation programs for military and civilian personnel within the university walls. All those who provide a solid rear for those who are desperately fighting on the front lines. All of us are united by one goal—to greet the victorious sunrise.

Independence Day is not just a holiday. It is a day of realization that Independence can be taken away. And the price of our Independence is the highest. Today, we bow to the soldiers who defend our land, our traditions, our culture, and our future every second. The lives and destinies of the entire country depend on them. They are the most important ones we have. And we are forever grateful for the titanic efforts.

Among the volunteers are students and graduates who gained knowledge at the university; educators, and lecturers, with whom we have worked shoulder to shoulder for years. Those who were writers or poets, engineers, bus drivers, fathers or mothers, sons, daughters, brothers, and sisters yesterday. Today—soldiers, fighters, heroes, and heroines. Ordinary people who withstand overwhelming evil.

An unconquered people who withstood their ground. And we will stand until the end, until the moment of restoring our borders and forever.

Glory to Ukraine! Glory to the Heroes!
