Every year on the third Thursday of May, Ukrainians celebrate one of the most beautiful and meaningful holidays — Vyshyvanka Day. Traditionally, the large family of Karazin University also joins this large-scale flash mob of national unity.

For Ukrainians, the vyshyvanka is much more than just a traditional clothing item. It is our genetic code, a powerful protective symbol, a sign of free spirit, and an unbreakable link between generations. Today, in times of struggle for our freedom and independence, the embroidered shirt has also become true spiritual armor — a vivid manifesto of our identity and resilience.

Students, lecturers, staff, and alumni of Karazin University proudly wore their embroidered shirts today. Wherever we are — in our resilient hometown Kharkiv, in other cities of Ukraine, or far beyond its borders — the Ukrainian vyshyvanka erases boundaries. It unites Karazin people across the world, reminding us of shared roots, love for our homeland, and a common belief in victory.

This year, the celebration was complemented by a particularly warm initiative: the university set up an interactive zone with a large map of Ukraine. Every Karazin participant had the opportunity to place a bright sticker on their hometown or village. This map became a moving reminder that Karazin University brings together young people from all corners of our country.

Warm congratulations to everyone on this holiday! May the vyshyvanka protect each of us, warm our souls, give strength, and inspire new achievements for the future of Ukraine.

Let us honor our traditions: wear your favorite vyshyvankas, take festive photos, share them on social media, and tag the university page — let’s create our shared Karazin gallery of unity!
