Day of Ukrainian writing and language: the university celebrates
Every year on November 9, Ukraine celebrates the Day of Ukrainian Writing and Language. The holiday was established by the decree of the President of Ukraine dated November 6, 1997.
“Language is not just a way of communication, but something more meaningful. "Language is all the deep layers of the spiritual life of the people, its historical memory, the most valuable possession of the ages, language is also music, melody, colors, life, modern, artistic, intellectual and thought activity of the people," said the outstanding Ukrainian writer, Oles Gonchar, a graduate of Kharkiv University.
In modern Ukrainian realities, when russian invaders came to our land with a war, language became a real weapon, it remains one of the key factors of the country's national unity and independence. It is language that defines ethnicity and is an important factor in ethno-national development.
Usually, on this day, the memory of Reverend Nestor the Chronicler, a follower of the creators of the Slavic writing Cyril and Methodius, is also honored, the best popularizers of the Ukrainian language are celebrated, and a radio dictation of national unity is held.
This year will be no exception, but there will be a slight innovation due to the war. Due to military actions, millions of Ukrainians ended up in different countries of the world, so studios will be set up for them to write radio dictation abroad. The author of this year's text is Ukrainian writer and director, member of Ukrainian PEN Iryna Tsylyk, it will be read by People's Artist, Hero of Ukraine Ada Rogovtseva. Dictation will start at 11:00.
Congratulations on the Day of Ukrainian writing and language! Join the radio dictation of national unity, respect and promote our language wherever you are!
