Admissions Campaign 2026 Results: Karazin University Has Much to Be Proud Of
Every applicant comes to university with their own story, dreams, and plans for the future. Some already know exactly who they want to become; others are still searching for their own path, while some simply dream of exploring new horizons. This year, they all chose Karazin University — and to us, this means much more than statistics.
In 2026, the University received 25,286 applications, a 26.3% increase over the previous year. In total, 5,646 students and postgraduate students joined the University community this year.
Our first-year students come from every region of Ukraine, from Donetsk to Zakarpattia, from Sumy to Zaporizhzhia. The geographical reach of this year's admissions campaign demonstrates that Karazin remains a university of choice for young people from all corners of the country. We particularly value this choice today, as Kharkiv continues to live and develop amid Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine.
Psychology ranks among the most popular fields of study.
This year, psychology was the most popular field among applicants to bachelor's and master's programmes. This choice naturally resonates with young people: amid war, loss, forced displacement, and constant stress, society has a particular need for professionals who help people navigate difficult life circumstances, rebuild their inner resources, and adapt to change.
At the same time, applicants showed strong interest in public administration, management, law, philology, medicine, and IT. These are fields that shape Ukraine's future: the effectiveness of public institutions, economic development, the protection of human rights, the preservation of language and culture, public health, technological resilience, and the country's recovery.
Another important trend is growing research interest.
More and more young people are choosing not only an educational path at Karazin but also a research career. In 2026, 188 students were admitted to doctoral programmes, an increase of 18.2% compared with the previous year. Behind these figures are young researchers ready to ask questions, seek answers, generate new knowledge, and contribute to the advancement of Ukrainian and global science.
We thank everyone who chose Karazin in 2026. We are grateful to the entire University community for continuing to teach, conduct research, and grow even in the most challenging times.
Much work lies ahead, along with new discoveries and achievements. We are delighted that you have chosen to pursue this journey together with Karazin University.
