Karazin University Faculty Participate in Erasmus+ Programme at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam

On 1–5 June 2026, representatives of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University took part in the international Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) "Designing Courses, Assignments and Feedback for Students Using the LOUIS Competence Framework", held at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (the Netherlands) within the framework of the Erasmus+ programme and the Aurora network.

The Karazin University delegation included:

  • Olha Vyhovska, Director of the Education and Research Institute "Academy of Teaching", Professor at the Department of International Relations of the Education and Research Institute "Karazin Institute of International Relations and Travel Business";
  • Polina Podlepina, Deputy Director for International Affairs of the Education and Research Institute "Karazin Institute of International Relations and Travel Business", Associate Professor at the Department of World Politics, Diplomacy and Travel Business;
  • Nataliia Vinnikova, Head of the Department of International Relations of the Education and Research Institute "Karazin Institute of International Relations and Travel Business";
  • Iryna Kuzina, Head of the Department of Sociology of the Education and Research Institute of Sociology and Media Communications;
  • Alina Kalashnikova, Associate Professor at the Department of Applied Sociology and Social Communications of the Education and Research Institute of Sociology and Media Communications;
  • Maryna Vasylieva, Deputy Director of the Education and Research Institute "Ukrainian Engineering and Pedagogics Academy";
  • Hanna Hrinchenko, Associate Professor at the Department of Automation, Metrology and Energy-Efficient Technologies of the Education and ResearchI nstitute "Ukrainian Engineering and Pedagogics Academy".

The programme brought together lecturers and researchers from partner universities to discuss contemporary approaches to curriculum design, student competence development, the creation of learning assignments, and formative assessment tools. Particular attention was given to implementing the LOUIS Competence Framework, which is designed to foster both subject-specific and transferable competences among students.

Throughout the week, participants worked on enhancing their own courses, analysed the alignment between learning outcomes, assignments, and assessment criteria, developed rubrics for providing high-quality feedback to students, and explored European best practices in teaching and learning. The programme also included discussions on strategies for institution-wide implementation of the competence-based approach in higher education.

Participation in the programme marked an important step in the further development of Karazin University's educational programmes in line with European standards for quality assurance in higher education. The knowledge and practical tools gained will contribute to improving academic courses, enhancing assessment quality, and strengthening the student-centred approach to teaching and learning.

International cooperation within the Erasmus+ programme and the Aurora Alliance continues to create new opportunities for the professional development of academic staff, the exchange of experience, and the integration of Karazin University into the European Higher Education Area.
