From March 23 to 27, 2026, an international working meeting of the Erasmus+ SAFE LEARN project consortium — “Supporting Adaptive and Flexible Education for Students Affected by the War in Ukraine” — took place in Uppsala (Sweden) at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU), Ultuna Campus.

Representatives of the Education and Research Institute “Teachers' Academy” of Karazin University participated in the meeting: Director Olha Vyhovska, and Deputy Directors Tetiana Holovatenko and Tetiana Datsenko.

The program began with welcome remarks and an introductory session featuring Linda Widlund (SLU, Sweden), Cecilia Almlöv (SLU, Sweden), and the project coordinator Kateryna Polupanova (MRU, Lithuania). Participants discussed key challenges in modern education and the role of teacher resilience in times of crisis. On the first day, a presentation and discussion on university relocation were also held, delivered by Olena Khadzhynova (Pryazovskyi State Technical University, Ukraine).

Sessions dedicated to neuroeducation and adult learning in stressful conditions attracted significant interest. Researchers from the Silesian University of Technology (Poland), Aleksandra Synowiec and Jolanta Konieczny, presented research findings explaining how the adult brain processes information under increased psychological pressure. These findings formed the basis for discussions on structuring educational content and preventing cognitive overload among students.

Participants also explored innovative teaching approaches: the Living Lab method in trauma-sensitive education presented by Tetiana Horokhova (CAIS, Germany); learning through sensory experience with Francesca Taufer (SLU, Sweden); and reflective writing as a tool for social-emotional learning, led by Alexandra D’Urso (SLU, Sweden). Evening sessions of creative dance with Sofia Ribeiro (Gottsunda Dans och Teater, Sweden) focused on stress reduction techniques and restoring emotional resources.

Special attention was given to the development of modern educational content. During sessions in the university media studio, participants explored tools for creating video materials that enhance the possibilities of distance and blended learning.

At the final consortium session, participants reviewed the project outcomes and outlined key directions for its further development.

We express our sincere gratitude to our Swedish partners for the high level of organization and warm hospitality!
