The Photograph of a Karazin University Lecture Hall was used in the Materials of the Philipp Schwartz Forum
On April 9–10, the Philipp Schwartz Forum took place in Berlin, organized by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. The event brought together more than 400 participants — scientists at risk, representatives of universities, international organizations, and institutions supporting the academic community at local, national, and international levels.
The Forum was dedicated to issues of international academic freedom and the protection of scholars, as well as to reviewing ten years of support provided within the Philipp Schwartz Initiative. Participants discussed the challenges that will shape the future of international scientific cooperation and mechanisms for supporting researchers in the coming years.
It was particularly symbolic for Karazin University that the organizers selected a photograph of a lecture hall from the building of the Education and Research Institute “School of Physics and Technology” as an illustrative image for the Forum materials. This choice represents a sign of solidarity with the Ukrainian academic community and recognition of the resilience of universities continuing their work under wartime conditions.
Despite constant shelling of Kharkiv and the challenging security situation in the country, Karazin University ensures the continuity of its educational process and scientific research. The university’s faculty and researchers continue to implement research projects, participate in international initiatives, and strengthen partnerships with leading scientific centers worldwide.
Karazin University remains an active part of the global academic community, demonstrating that even in the most difficult times, science in Kharkiv continues to live, develop, and contribute to the global scientific landscape.
