Karazin University Holds Student Induction Ceremony for First-Year Students
Each year, the student induction ceremony at V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University marks the beginning of a new and important chapter for hundreds of recent high school graduates. It is a symbolic moment when young people become part of a centuries-old academic tradition, meet their lecturers and fellow students, and get to know the university whose walls will become their second home.
The event was attended by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Oleksandr Mishchenko, Head of the Kharkiv Regional Council Tetiana Yehorova-Lutsenko, Acting Rector of Karazin University Tetyana Kaganovska, Vice-Rectors, Directors of Education and Research Institutes, Deans of Schools, students, and parents.
This year, the University-wide ceremony began in accordance with tradition, but the realities of today dictated their own rules. At the very beginning of the ceremony, the event was suspended due to an actual aerial threat. University staff promptly and efficiently organised the evacuation of all first-year students, faculty members, and guests to safe shelters. The life, health, and safety of every student and employee are Karazin University’s absolute and non-negotiable priority. For this reason, the main part of the ceremony was brought to an early close in order to ensure compliance with all safety requirements.
The students’ introduction to university life does not end here. In the days ahead, they will take part in smaller induction ceremonies held in a welcoming and safe setting at their respective Schools and Institutes. These events will give students an opportunity to meet and speak personally with Deans and academic advisors.
Karazin University is proud of each and every one of you and is delighted to welcome you as new members of our large and resilient family! You have chosen the path of knowledge and science in the heart of Kharkiv, demonstrating courage and commitment to your dreams. May your student years be filled with intellectual achievements, unforgettable encounters, outstanding accomplishments, and personal growth. We wish you an inspiring and successful academic journey and, above all, safety, resilience, and the swift return of peaceful skies over our beloved Ukraine!
