It is with deep sadness that we announce that a serious illness took the life of Viktor Dolgov, a professor of the Department of Security of Information Systems and Technologies of the Faculty of Computer Sciences, an honored worker of science and technology of the Ukrainian SSR.

Viktor Dolgov was born on November 21, 1938. In 1961, he graduated with honors from the Kharkiv Higher Aviation Engineering Military School with a major in "Special Radio Control and Control Systems", and in 1966 - from the evening department of Kharkiv State University (now V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University) with a major in "Mathematics".

Since 1961, Viktor Ivanovich worked at the Kharkiv Higher Military Command and Engineering School (now the Ivan Kozhedub Kharkiv Air Force University), where he completed his doctoral studies in 1972. In 1976–1985, Viktor Ivanovych headed the communications department of the Kharkiv Higher Military Command School named after M. I. Krylov; in 1985–1992, he held the position of deputy chief for educational and scientific work.

Since 1991, he worked as a professor at Department No. 42 of the Kharkiv Military University. Later he taught at the Kharkiv State Technical University of Radio Electronics.

From 2014 until the last days, Viktor Ivanovich Dolgov worked at V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University as a professor of the Department of Security of Information Systems and Technologies, taught the course "Cryptographic methods in cyber security". He is the author of 6 textbooks and monographs, more than 200 articles, more than 80 inventions and patents.

On July 21, 2022, after a long courageous struggle with the disease, Viktor Ivanovych passed away. Viktor Ivanovich was a teacher, an example of a true scientist and researcher, a deeply intelligent and decent person.

We express our deepest condolences to the relatives and friends of Viktor Ivanovich, we sincerely share the bitterness of the loss.

His bright memory will forever remain in the hearts of all his pupils and colleagues.
