On November 1, 2021, the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research began the project to establish centers of excellence in Ukraine.

One of the twelve requests that passed the first stage of selection was a project by the Max Planck Institute of Microstructure Physics in Halle in collaboration with Karazin University.

The project aims to develop basic and applied research of advanced plasma technologies for spintronics and energy materials.

On November 11, 2021, a working meeting was held with the participation of the Director of the Max Planck Institute of Microstructure Physics, Stuart Parkin; Director of the Education and Research Institute “School of Physics and Technology”, Ihor Hirka; and researchers of the nanosystems department of the Max Planck Institute of Microstructure Physics: Andrii Stiervoiedov (graduate of the Education and Research Institute "School of Physics and Technology" of 2003); Oleksii Biletskyi (graduate of the Education and Research Institute "School of Physics and Technology" of 2005); Kyrylo Dronov (graduate of the School of Computer Sciences of 2017).

During the meeting, the parties discussed a plan of joint actions aimed at successful implementation of the first stage of the project.
