Solemn Meeting of the University Academic Council on the Occasion of the 219th Anniversary of the Founding of Karazin University

On January 29, a solemn meeting of the Academic Council of the university took place at Karazin University, dedicated to the 219th anniversary of the opening of V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University.

The solemn meeting was opened by the university's rector, Tetiana Kaganovska: "We really want to believe that we will celebrate the 220th anniversary in a peaceful Ukraine, and we will make every effort for this. I want to thank all of you. In fact, we cannot even imagine how many high-quality and powerful initiatives we have implemented this year. I am proud of our Karazin community! I know how difficult it is to go to work after night shelling, to do your job, inspire colleagues and students, stay strong yourself, and multiply the achievements of Karazin University. I am very glad that in this challenging time, we are working together!"

For the first time since the start of the full-scale war, a scientific report was presented at the university. The speaker was the Dean of the School of Physics, Ruslan Vovk, who talked about the life path of the outstanding theoretical physicist Mark Azbel.

The Academic Council adopted a decision to establish the Mark Azbel Prize at the university, as well as to name auditorium 7-36 after Mark Yakovych Azbel.

The head of the counting commission, Ivan Karpenko, announced the results of the secret ballot, according to which the nomination of candidates for election to vacancies as full members and corresponding members of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine was supported:

  • Ruslan Vovk – for the position of a full member (academician) of the NASU in the section "Physics and Astronomy," specializing in "Physics of Nanostructures";
  • Ihor Hirka – for the position of a full member (academician) of the NASU in the section "Nuclear Physics and Energy," specializing in "Nuclear Physics and Energy";
  • Ihor Denysenko – for the position of a corresponding member of the NASU in the section "Nuclear Physics and Energy," specializing in "Plasma Physics";
  • Volodymyr Rodchenko – for the position of a corresponding member of the NASU in the section "Economics," specializing in "Smart Economy";
  • Liudmyla Sokurianska – for the position of a corresponding member of the NASU in the section "History, Philosophy, and Law," specializing in "Sociology";
  • Serhii Utevskyi – for the position of a corresponding member of the NASU in the section "General Biology," specializing in "Population Ecology";
  • Leonid Chornohor – for the position of a corresponding member of the NASU in the section "Physics and Astronomy," specializing in "Space Physics";
  • Oleg Lazorenko – for the position of a corresponding member of the NASU in the section "Physics and Astronomy," specializing in "Computer Modeling of Physical Processes, Machine Learning."

Among the main agenda items were:

  • Aspects of the university's scientific activities;
  • Approval of certificate educational programs;
  • Implementation of the project "University for the Military";
  • Changes to the structure of the education and scientific institute of international education at Karazin University;
  • Opening of a doctoral program in specialty 122 Computer Sciences;
  • Publishing activities and the work of the university's electronic archives.

The university continues to work for our future!
