Associate Professor of the Department of Crystal Physics Valerii Bohdanov Passes Away: Karazin Community Expresses Condolences
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing, on September 6, 2026, of Valerii Vitaliiovych Bohdanov, Associate Professor of the Department of Crystal Physics at the School of Physics of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences.
Valerii Vitaliiovych devoted his entire professional life to Karazin University and the Department of Crystal Physics. After graduating from the School of Physics of Kharkiv State University in 1975, he continued his work at the Department, progressing from Junior Research Fellow to Senior Research Fellow and Associate Professor.
Valerii Vitaliiovych’s research interests focused on diffusion processes in real crystals, reaction diffusion, and structure-sensitive processes in solids. He authored more than one hundred research papers and teaching manuals.
Experimental physics held a special place in his professional career. Valerii Vitaliiovych was a talented and inventive experimentalist, capable of carrying out highly complex research, finding unconventional technical solutions, designing the experimental equipment required, and ensuring the conditions necessary for scientific experiments.
Throughout his many years of teaching, Valerii Vitaliiovych educated generations of physics students. He was loved and respected by his students and highly valued by his colleagues. He generously shared his knowledge and experience, was always ready to lend a helping hand, and never remained indifferent to the problems of others.
A kind, compassionate, and exceptionally hardworking person, a reliable colleague and friend — this is how Valerii Vitaliiovych will remain in the memory of all who had the privilege of knowing him and working alongside him.
