International Philosophy Day

21 november 2024 year

Traditionally, the world celebrates Philosophy Day on the third Thursday of November.

This holiday was established by UNESCO in 2002 to draw attention to the problems and urgent issues of modernity. Today, it is celebrated in over 80 countries worldwide.

Philosophy is more than just a science. It is a source of ideas that transform society, inspire scientific discoveries, and expand our understanding of the meaning of life and the universe.

Since the beginning of the war, many people have begun to reflect more deeply on existential questions, morality, the meaning of life, and justice. They have started to reassess their values, seeking new meanings and answers to questions about the limits of human cruelty and the strength of the human spirit.

The first school of philosophy on the territory of Ukraine was founded at Karazin University. Its representatives engaged in critical rethinking of the ideas of German idealism. The school's founder was Johann Schad, one of the university’s first professors.

Today, Karazin University continues this proud tradition, training specialists at its School of Philosophy.

We extend our heartfelt congratulations on this occasion and wish you creative energy and boundless inspiration in your search for truth!
