Science Day: Karazin Community Celebrates
On the third Saturday of May, Ukraine traditionally celebrates Science Day — a holiday that unites everyone who works daily on new knowledge, discoveries, and the technologies of the future.
For V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, science is the foundation of development and an integral part of its 221-year history. It is the only higher education institution in Ukraine where three Nobel Prize laureates studied and worked: Ilya Mechnikov, Simon Kuznets, and Lev Landau.
At Karazin University, both fundamental and applied research directions are actively developing, from artificial intelligence, machine learning, and space technologies to nuclear medicine, quantum physics, information security, and the creation of new materials, while researchers actively work on innovative projects.
Despite today’s challenges, the university continues to actively develop its scientific activity. Over the past year alone, researchers have published 778 articles in Scopus-indexed journals and 382 in Web of Science. The university’s Hirsch index has reached 99, and the institution’s academic journals continue to be included in international scientometric databases. Karazinites also actively participate in international conferences, grant programmes, and scientific exhibitions.
Important steps in developing the university’s research infrastructure have included the opening of a Science Park, new laboratories, and a Centre for Shared Use of Scientific Equipment. Karazin University also continues to expand cooperation with the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and international partners.
We sincerely congratulate lecturers, researchers, early-career scientists, PhD students, and students on Science Day! We wish you perseverance in scientific exploration and new achievements.
