60th anniversary of the educational and scientific institute "Faculty of Physics and Technology": the university celebrates

On November 21, a solemn meeting was held on the occasion of the jubilee of the educational and scientific institute "Faculty of Physics and Technology" of Karazin University in online format.

The Faculty of Physics and Technology was established at the University of Kharkiv in 1962 to train specialists in the then advanced fields of science and technology - nuclear physics, plasma physics, physical materials science.

Over the 60 years of its existence, the institute (formerly the Faculty of Physics and Technology) has graduated more than 3,000 specialists in various fields of physical science, most of its graduates are engaged in scientific research.

Rector of the university Tetyana Kaganovska congratulated those present on the holiday and noted: "Today this institute is a real example of a combination of theoretical and practical activities, interaction between academic institutes and universities. It has held the mark for many years in a row, as evidenced by the achievements of its students and graduates. All employees of this institute are truly devoted to their profession and science, and our common task today is to preserve and multiply these assets for the development of science, the university, and Ukraine."

On behalf of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and the Institute of Theoretical Physics named after M.M. Bogolyubov, the President of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Anatoly Zagorodniy congratulated the educational and scientific institute on its anniversary.

NNI "Faculty of Physics and Technology" made a significant contribution to the world scientific treasury. Three discoveries (out of more than 2,000 available in the register) made by graduates of the institute have been entered into the state register. The whole world knows the names of his professors and students: Dmytro Volkov, Serhiy Peletminsky, Ilya Zalyubovsky, Mykola Shulga, and others.

About 30% of graduates have degrees. Among them are more than 50 laureates of state awards, more than 10 laureates of the National Academy of Sciences, 10 academicians, 28 members of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, many Soros professors.
