Summary:

SUNRISE addresses challenges faced by Ukrainian PhD students in environmental subjects due to the war. It develops the capacity of EU partners to provide relevant support in this sense. With 12 involved scholars from EU & 10 from Ukraine, SUNRISE aims to:

  • build war-resistant and resilient learning infrastructure;
  • support the war resilience and post-war recovery through curriculum contents reflecting the emerging challenges;
  • ensure future academic competitiveness and research innovation.

In particular, SUNRISE will develop online ICT services for PhD training, leveraging on post-disaster experiences of UniCam & UniZg in the context of UN and EU strategies and directives; co-develop research databases and curricula on post-war recovery & resilience, PhD (co-)supervision and expert advising/training support on emerging topics; develop resilience guidelines for the post-war recovery and enhancement of academic activities in environmental research at partner campuses in Ukraine.
