We Extend our Warm Congratulations to the University Community on Chemist’s Day!

31 may 2026 year

We sincerely congratulate you on your professional holiday — Chemist’s Day! Chemistry is the science of transformation, the search for balance, and the creation of something new. Today, Karazin chemists continue their research, proving every day that Ukrainian science is an integral part of the global scientific community. Even in times of great challenges, you continue to develop new discoveries, teach future generations of scientists, and inspire school students to fall in love with the world of molecules and reactions.

Especially for this occasion, we have selected three interviews with chemists previously published in the “Karazin University” newspaper. These conversations feature representatives of three generations of our chemical community, who have different experiences but a shared passion. We invite you to get to know those who are shaping the future of science today:

  • Maryta Shpak, a student of the Education and Research Institute of Chemistry, shares her impressions of her research internship at the University of Duisburg-Essen (Germany). She talks about her work with gold nanoparticles and how international experience breaks down barriers for young researchers.
  • Denys Chudak, a young scientist and Associate Professor at the Department of Organic Chemistry and Molecular Materials, and recipient of a Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine scholarship, defines his own formula for success: “Science is 99% hard work.” Denys talks about his research in the field of metal-organic frameworks and his dream of rebuilding advanced Ukrainian laboratories that would attract international researchers.
  • Daria Kharchenko, a graduate of the Faculty of Chemistry and coordinator of the Science Kids project, reveals how to spark children’s interest in chemistry from the age of 7 to 13 and break outdated stereotypes.
