Karazin Students Win Bronze at the Kharkiv Student Sports Leagues Chess Tournament

On 27 May 2026, a chess tournament was held as part of the Kharkiv Student Sports Leagues programme.

The Karazin University team became the bronze medallists of the competition. The team included Roman Dehtiarov (Education and Research Institute “Karazin Institute of International Relations and Travvel Business”), Vasyl Martynov (Education and Research Institute “School of Physics and Technology”), Daria Marchenko and Uliana Shumara (School of Medicine).

The tournament was won by the chess players of Yaroslav Mudryi National Law University, while students of Kharkiv National University of Radio Electronics took the silver medals.

A total of 14 teams representing higher education institutions of Kharkiv took part in the tournament.

All teams demonstrated a high level of preparation, sporting spirit, and determination to win.

The initiative of student leagues is implemented with the support of the Kharkiv City Council and the Department for Family, Youth and Sports Affairs, aimed at developing student sports, promoting a healthy lifestyle, and fostering an active youth environment in Kharkiv.
