Karazin University Mourns the Passing of Honored Professor Tetiana Dohadina: Karazinites Extend their Condolences…

With deep sorrow, we report that at the age of 86, Tetiana Vasylivna Dohadina has passed away — a renowned Ukrainian algologist, hydrobiologist, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Honored Professor of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, who for many years (from 1989 to 2020) headed the Department of Botany and Plant Ecology at the School of Biology.

Tetiana Vasylivna’s scientific interests were focused on the study of freshwater microscopic algae in Ukraine and other countries, as well as the investigation of the sanitary and biological state of various types of water bodies. Specialists know her for her numerous scientific publications.

Her entire life was inseparable from the University. She combined teaching with research, trained new generations of biologists, and developed the Kharkiv algological school. For many years, Tetiana Vasylivna headed the Kharkiv branch of the Ukrainian Botanical Society and served as Vice-President of the Ukrainian Botanical Society.

The bright memory of Tetiana Vasylivna, her devotion to science, and her pedagogical talent will forever remain in the hearts of colleagues, students, and all who had the honor of working and communicating with her.
