On May 6, 2026, a significant event took place in the development of international education at V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University.

A delegation from Karazin University, consisting of Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Zarif Nazirov and Acting Director of the Education and Research Institute of International Education Yurii Levchenko, carried out an official visit to “Odlar Yurdu” University (Republic of Azerbaijan).

During the visit, two strategically important agreements were signed on the establishment of joint bachelor’s degree programmes. The documents provide for the introduction of double degree programmes in the fields of “Biology” and “Computer Science.”

The Azerbaijani side was represented by the Chairman of the Board of Directors of “Odlar Yurdu” University, Ahmad Valiyev.

“The signing of these agreements is a significant step towards deepening the integration of the educational spaces of Ukraine and Azerbaijan. Double degree programmes open truly unique opportunities for students of both universities: to obtain two diplomas — a European-style diploma (Karazin University) and an Azerbaijani one (‘Odlar Yurdu’ University), as well as to gain invaluable international academic, linguistic, and cultural experience,” noted Zarif Nazirov.

The implementation of these programmes will allow students to study according to harmonized curricula, participate in academic mobility, and receive mutual recognition of credits by both higher education institutions.

This event once again confirms Karazin University’s commitment to strengthening its position in the global educational space and consolidating its status as one of the leading centres of international academic cooperation.
