  1. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University has been granted the status of a UNEVOC Centre within the UNESCO-UNEVOC network — a global platform of UNESCO dedicated to technical and vocational education and training (TVET).

The decision was officially announced in March 2026, and the Centre has been included in the international UNEVOC directory (more details: https://unevoc.unesco.org/home/New+UNEVOC+Centres+March+2026).

The UNEVOC Centre at Karazin University will operate on the basis of the Center for Innovative Educational Technologies (CIET), a structural unit of the Education and Research Institute “Ukrainian Engineering and Pedagogical Academy” of Karazin University. This institutional setup highlights the University’s role as one of the key national hubs for the development of vocational education, innovative teaching approaches, and the training of educators for the TVET system.

The Centre will be headed by Professor, Dr. Maryna Vasylieva, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences and Deputy Director of the Education and Research Institute “Ukrainian Engineering and Pedagogical Academy”. Her academic and organisational work focuses on modern pedagogy, educational leadership, organisational culture, and innovative educational practices — all of which align closely with the core priorities of the UNEVOC network.

The activities of the UNEVOC Centre at Karazin University are grounded in extensive experience in training teachers for vocational education and advancing innovative educational technologies. The Centre’s key areas of work include teacher training for the TVET system, digitalisation of education and implementation of modern learning technologies, development of competencies aligned with labour market needs, introduction of micro-credentials and new learning formats, as well as strengthening international cooperation in the field of TVET.

The Centre will also contribute to educational reforms, Ukraine’s recovery efforts, and the development of human capital in response to current challenges.

Joining the UNEVOC network opens new opportunities for the University, including participation in global UNESCO initiatives in vocational education, integration into a network of more than 250 UNEVOC Centres worldwide, exchange of best practices with leading institutions, development of new international partnerships and projects, and strengthening collaboration between education, business, and government.

Obtaining UNEVOC Centre status marks an important step in strengthening Karazin University’s international position and confirms its role as a key driver in the transformation of vocational education in Ukraine. It also reinforces the University’s contribution to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly in ensuring quality education and developing skills for the future.
