As part of the cooperation, students will have the opportunity to undergo practical field training in the fundamentals of national resistance.

As a reminder, the project is being implemented pursuant to the Law of Ukraine “On the Fundamentals of National Resistance,” under which, starting October 1, 2026, first-year students enrolled in full-time and dual education programs will study the fundamentals of national resistance as a compulsory educational component.

Acting Rector Tetyana Kaganovska noted that an increasing number of students are currently interested in acquiring skills related to preparing for the defense of the country.

“Today, especially here in frontline Kharkiv, we understand very well that everyone should have basic knowledge and skills that can help them protect themselves, their loved ones, and their country if necessary. It is important for us that our students’ practical training will be conducted by people who know what war is not from textbooks and can share their own experience with young people. Thank you for your willingness to work with our students. We are open to this cooperation and very much want to believe that very soon these knowledge and skills will be needed by young people in a peaceful Ukraine.”

Karazin University has already amended all educational programs and scheduled 150 hours of training in the fundamentals of national resistance. Of these, 90 hours will consist of classroom instruction, 30 hours of professional training, and 30 hours of practical field training.

“We are very grateful to you for your cooperation. It is a great honor for the Center to work with the most powerful, oldest, and best higher education institution in Kharkiv Region. For our part, we would like to assure you that the Center will fully live up to expectations, both regarding the academic staff and the students who will undergo practical field training,” said Valerii Kolianda, Head of the Municipal Institution of the Kharkiv Regional Council “Regional Center for Training Citizens in National Resistance.”

Very soon, as part of the project and with all necessary safety measures in place, small groups will be formed to undergo practical training. Karazin University plans to sign similar memoranda of cooperation with National Resistance Centers in other regions of Ukraine so that students residing outside Kharkiv Region can also undergo the relevant training.
