Shooting of the Social Project "Accessibility Agent" that Studies Vaccination Accessibility for Disabled People at Kharkiv Institutions Took Place at the University

29 september 2021 year

Today, the shooting of the social project "Accessibility Agent" took place at Karazin University. The project is dedicated to studying vaccination accessibility for people with disabilities at Kharkiv institutions.

Olena Fedota, a two-time silver medalist in the Wheelchair Fencing Paralympic Games, also visited Karazin University and inspected two vaccination centers operating at the University.

According to her, the vaccination center located in the University Main Building is quite suitable for people with disabilities and was assessed by Olena as excellent.

Difficulties arose in the University Northern Building where, despite the presence of wheelchair ramps in the courtyard, the situation is complicated by a group of steps in the lobby that are difficult to overcome independently. In this case, security guards help people with special needs to get to the vaccination center, but this can be uncomfortable.

The University has an algorithm of actions to help people with disabilities. At the same time, the University administration acknowledges the problems and works to eliminate them. In particular, it takes care of improving accessibility for people with special needs in the building at 6 Svobody Square.

Currently, people with disabilities are invited to get vaccinated at the vaccination center in the University Main Building, which was positively assessed during the public testing.

The center is located at the Medical Center, 2nd floor, 4 Svobody Sq.

Those willing can get vaccinated with the following vaccines: CoronaVac, Pfizer, AstraZeneca.

Opening hours of the center: from 9:00 to 17:00 on weekdays.

We thank Ms. Olena for her attention to this topical issue — accessibility and comfort. Karazin University is working to create endless opportunities and overcome obstacles along the way!
