The Exhibition by Hamlet Zinkivsky, titled "Unfinished 2023," is currently ongoing at the ErmilovCentre for Contemporary Art
On January 28, the opening of the exhibition project by Hamlet Zinkivsky took place at the ErmilovCentre, a contemporary art center.
The exhibition titled "Unfinished 2023" is the artist's sixth annual diary project, created day by day throughout the year (2013, 2015, 2017, 2019, 2021).
"The war continues, taking away, killing the best. Each drawing is unfinished, incomplete, as if a year without one day. Too many fighters will never enter my home, into my little kitchen.
It seems that some part of me will forever remain in 2023, and the rest of me will fight evil to the end of days," notes the artist.
Hamlet's drawings, created during the war, support the residents of Kharkiv, express gratitude to the military and volunteers, and instill confidence that the city will stand unbroken. The war has not only changed the content of Hamlet's drawings but also his way of life. He actively volunteers, raises funds, and helps evacuate Kharkiv residents. Now his works appear on the ruins of bombed buildings and boarded-up windows.
The exhibition will run until March 3, 2024, featuring 365 sketches reproduced by the artist on paper throughout 2023.
