V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University has, for the first time, graduated a group of academic and teaching staff members from the Department of Biochemistry named after Professor O. O. Pentyuk of M. I. Pirogov Vinnytsia National Medical University, who enhanced their professional qualifications and competencies through the certificate educational programme in Molecular Biology.

The certificate educational programme in Molecular Biology was developed in accordance with established regulations by Anatolii Bozhkov, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor, Head of the Department of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology of the School of Biology, with the support of the Institute of Continuing Education and in response to a targeted request from the teaching staff of the Department of Biochemistry named after Professor O. O. Pentyuk of M. I. Pirogov Vinnytsia National Medical University. The programme aims to provide participants with the latest knowledge on the mechanisms of functioning of living systems at the molecular level, introduce the principles of genomics and epigenetics into the educational process, and study the tools of molecular diagnostics as a foundation of modern clinical practice, while also familiarising participants with Karazin University's long-standing research experience in this field.

During lectures, practical classes, laboratory sessions, and seminars conducted by Anatolii Bozhkov, participants mastered the scientific and practical foundations of the gene-centric paradigm of molecular biology, the emergence of modern omics disciplines, and the development of the post-genomic era in systems and molecular biology, as well as the possibilities of applying academic knowledge in diagnostics and clinical practice. The participants acquired professional competencies related to the latest data on the mechanisms of living systems at the molecular level, the implementation of genomics and epigenetics principles in education, and updated their knowledge of innovative molecular diagnostic tools that underpin modern clinical practice. Through this training, academic and teaching staff expanded their competencies in accordance with competency codes PH1, PH2, PH3, PH6, PH7, PH10, PH11, PH12, PH14, PH22, PH24, and PH25.

The final session, conducted by Mykhailo Tatarinov, Director of the Institute of Continuing Education, focused on discussing possible avenues for further cooperation between Karazin University and relevant structural units of M. I. Pirogov Vinnytsia National Medical University. The participants also discussed the use of practical experience in developing high-quality educational programmes for accreditation procedures, participation in entry evaluation activities that demonstrated the high practical effectiveness of the training, and consideration of participants' proposals regarding further development of blended learning opportunities in professional development programmes.

At the conclusion of the programme, Nataliia Zaichko, Doctor of Medical Sciences and Head of the Department of Biochemistry named after Professor O. O. Pentyuk of M. I.
