The World Summer Universiade has begun
The main sporting event of the summer has begun; today is the opening day of the XXXI World Summer Universiade in the Chinese city of Chengdu! The opening ceremony is going to be held today, and the competitions will continue until August 8th. Around 7,000 participants from 115 countries representing 900 universities are taking part in this grand event. There will be 269 sets of medals up for grabs across 18 different sports.
Ukraine's student team is also participating in the games, with 61 athletes competing to uphold the honor of the blue and yellow flag in China. The Ukrainian delegation will be competing in 10 sports disciplines, including athletics, volleyball, badminton, fencing, artistic gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics, archery, taekwondo (WTF), judo, and wushu.
Among the participants are representatives from the Karazin Kharkiv National University, School of Economics - a volleyball player Denis Veletskyi and fencer Ksenia Makarushchenko. Viewers can follow the Universiade's broadcasts on the TV platform of the International University Sports Federation (FISU) and on the XSPORT channel.
