The University Mourns the passing of Mykola Shulga, Head of the Institute of Nuclear and High Energy Physics named after O.I. Akhiezer, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, and Honorary Doctor of the University
With deep sorrow, we announce that this morning, at the age of 77, the heart of the head of the Institute of Nuclear and High Energy Physics named after O.I. Akhiezer at the N.N. Bogolyubov Institute for Physics and Technology, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Director-general of the Kharkiv Institute of Physics and Technology, Professor Mykola Shulga, stopped beating.
The scientific and educational community mourns the loss of a renowned scientist, a talented lecturer, and a distinguished mentor to many graduates of the N.N. Bogolyubov Institute for Physics and Technology. His life is closely connected with Kharkiv University, where he studied and worked for many years.
Mykola Fedorovych's scientific legacy includes numerous discoveries and research in the field of high-energy physics, particularly in the theory of coherent bremsstrahlung of electrons and positrons at ultrarelativistic energies in crystals.
At the initiative and direct participation of Mykola Fedorovych, a series of critical experiments were conducted to verify predicted effects at accelerators such as CERN (Switzerland), SLAC (USA), MAMI and S-DALINAC (Germany), as well as at the Kharkiv Institute of Physics and Technology. He initiated the city-wide scientific seminar "Modern Problems of Physics" in Kharkiv, held at the N.N. Bogolyubov Institute for Physics and Technology.
We express our sincere condolences to the family and close ones of Mykola Fedorovych, sharing in the bitterness of the loss. The bright memory of him will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew him.
