On January 18-19, the final meeting of the General Assembly of the European program EURIZON Scientific Committee took place in Prague.

Professor Igor Hirka from the Institute of Physics and Technology participated in the assembly as a member of the working group WP10 - Long Term Sustainability of RIs.

During the meeting, it was announced that the European Commission has approved a threefold increase in funding (up to 4.5 million euros) for the support program for scientists in Ukraine called "Remote Research Grant for Ukrainian Researchers." The scientific leaders of the first 18 winning projects have been informed about the conditions for starting their work. The second set of approximately 20 winners is planned to be determined by the end of January, and the third set (of the same quantity) is expected to be announced by the end of February 2024.

Despite the overall closure of the EURIZON program, funding for the "Remote Research Grant for Ukrainian Researchers" has been extended until the end of April 2025.
