International Children's Day
June 1 is International Children's Day.
This is an important event that calls on all adults to ensure that children have decent living, education and leisure conditions, as well as reliable protection from violence and exploitation.
Ukraine has been celebrating this day since 1998. In 1991, Ukraine acceded to the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, according to which every state is obliged to respect and promote the right of the child to participate fully in cultural and creative life, to provide for his or her leisure and recreation and to facilitate the provision of appropriate opportunities for this.
Our children are the future scientists, public figures, entrepreneurs, doctors, and professionals who will determine the future of our country. At the same time, in the context of a full-scale war, the Russian military is depriving Ukrainian children of the most valuable thing - the right to life.
As a result of Russian aggression in Ukraine, about 500 children have been killed, about 1,000 more have been injured of varying severity, and more than 19,000 Ukrainian children have been deported by the occupiers. In the current circumstances, children and adolescents need even more protection.
Every day, Ukrainians are fighting to create a better future for our children - successful and happy, safe and promising. Despite all the challenges, Karazin University is doing its best to ensure that Ukrainian children have access to quality education, can choose their own path, become true professionals and just happy people.
