the Day of the State Coat
Today, we celebrate the 32nd anniversary of the establishment of one of the State symbols of Ukraine. On February 19, 1992, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine approved the Trident as the Small Coat of Arms of Ukraine, defining it as the main element of the Great State Coat of Ukraine. It became a golden Trident on a blue shield.
The golden Trident has long been a national symbol for Ukrainians, especially during the liberation struggles of the 20th century. The oldest depictions of it date back to the 10th century.
In the 20th century, Mykhailo Hrushevsky mentioned in the article "Ukrainian Coat of Arms": "The significance of the Trident as a symbol was exceptional... The Trident is a symbol of the freedom and independence of the Ukrainian people, nation, and state."
Throughout the centuries, the Trident has united generations of our people in the struggle for freedom and independence. Today, as centuries ago, the Trident serves as a protector for our military and all Ukrainians resisting the enemy.
Respect the State Symbols of Ukraine!
