The Center for Mental Health is a structural unit of the Department of Social Educational Initiatives and Community Development of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University. Its purpose is to organize, coordinate, and develop psychological support at the University, as well as to carry out educational, training, and research-practical activities in the field of mental health.

The main areas of activity of the Center include:

  • Conducting activities aimed at developing psychological resilience skills, maintaining mental health, and caring for psychological well-being for students, learners, and staff of the University;

  • Providing consultations on mental health issues and improving relationships with the social environment, applying psychodiagnostics to study the socio-psychological characteristics of the individual for the purpose of psychological correction or rehabilitation, and offering methodological advice;

  • Organizing training sessions and resource activities to promote resilience, mental health preservation, and self-help for students and university staff;

  • Contributing to the training of highly qualified specialists (in the field of educational activities), enhancing the quality of education, and serving as a practice base for students and postgraduate students.

Psychological support is free professional assistance available to all university students who need help in difficult life situations. Our experienced psychologists provide confidential counseling aimed at improving emotional well-being and ensuring academic success.

The work of practical psychologists is focused on an individual approach to each visitor, the harmonious personal development of the individual, creating conditions for building motivation for self-development, and providing assistance in crisis situations.

Psychological consultations for students of Karazin University are free of charge and completely confidential.

An individual psychological consultation is a one-on-one meeting between a psychologist and a visitor aimed at providing psychological information, emotional support, assistance in making informed decisions, and assessing one’s psychological resources for behavior change. It also helps develop responsibility for one’s actions, self-awareness, attitude toward problems, stress resilience, and psychological culture.

The main goal of counseling is to improve students’ quality of life, ease stress, and enhance their ability to overcome difficult situations and make independent decisions.
