University graduate Valentin Sypavin Sets Ukrainian Record, Conquering Earth's Highest Mountain for the Seventh Time

On May 19, 2024, Valentin Sypavin, a graduate of the School of Geology, Geography, Recreation, and Tourism of the university, and one of Ukraine's strongest mountaineers and ice climbers, successfully reached the summit of Mount Everest. With this achievement, he set two new national records for the number of ascents of Everest — 7 times, and Lhotse — 3 times. This is an unprecedented achievement for Ukrainian mountaineering.

Previously, Valentin climbed Everest 6 times: in 2017, 2018, 2019, 2021, 2023, and 2024. His accomplishments demonstrate extraordinary skill and endurance.
