World Day for Safety and Health at Work
Today, Ukraine and more than a hundred countries around the world celebrate World Day for Safety and Health at Work.
The right to work in safe and healthy conditions is enshrined in the Constitution of Ukraine. The World Day for Safety and Health at Work in Ukraine was established to draw public attention to safety and health issues at work. After all, the value of the results of any labor activity cannot be higher than the value of an employee’s health and life.
At the initiative of the International Labor Organization, the World Day for Safety and Health at Work in 2023 is being held under the motto "A Safe and Healthy Working Environment as a Fundamental Principle and Right at Work".
Since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the issue of occupational safety has taken on new importance. Thousands of businesses continue to operate despite additional daily risks and challenges, as organizing occupational safety and health under martial law is a daunting task.
Karazin University has faced many challenges, but the university continues to function. All occupational health and safety measures are carried out in full scale, including certification of workplaces, scheduled training of employees, medical examinations of university employees working in hazardous conditions, and timely recharging of fire extinguishers.
The greatest loss and the greatest pain of the University is the Karazin University students who died as a result of Russian shelling and bombing and participation in hostilities.
Today, on the World Day for Safety and Health at Work, we honor the memory of Karazin University staff and teachers who died both in peacetime and during the war.
Let us remember that occupational safety is the key to preserving the most valuable thing — human life!
