World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development
Today, many countries around the world celebrate the World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development.
This holiday, initiated by a resolution of the UN General Assembly and first celebrated in 2003, reminds us of the value of cultural diversity. It opens opportunities for a deeper understanding of national cultures not only of our own country but also of all the peoples of the world. This is important for promoting cultural exchange, preserving traditions, customs, and heritage.
In 2001, UNESCO adopted the Universal Declaration on Cultural Diversity, which defines cultural diversity as the "common heritage of humanity" and aims to support the peaceful coexistence of cultures through dialogue and mutual understanding.
Cultural diversity is one of the drivers of economic, intellectual, emotional, moral, and spiritual growth. It is the most valuable asset necessary for achieving sustainable development in society.
Karazin University comprehensively supports and promotes dialogue between representatives of different scientific fields, nationalities, and countries. Cultural pluralism, through the establishment of dialogue between them, is one of the university's main activities.
