The Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Ukraine, Martin Eger, paid a visit to Karazin University
During the visit, Martin Eger, accompanied by the Honorary Consul of the Federal Republic of Germany in Kharkiv, Tetiana Havrysh, met with the university administration, led by Rector Tetiana Kaganovska, and Ukrainian writer, Honorary Doctor of Karazin University, Serhiy Zhadan.
The rector discussed how the university overcomes challenges in these difficult times and continues to operate at the heart of Kharkiv, thanks to our defenders, resilient Karazinites, support from friends and partners. She emphasized that Karazin University has strong ties with Germany, including:
- The first professors came to the university from Germany 218 years ago;
- Prominent Germans are among the Honorary Doctors of Karazin University;
- Today, the university is actively collaborating with the Max Planck Institute for Microstructure Physics in Halle, the Technical University of Munich, the Ludwig Maximilian University, and the University of Ulm;
- A large online forum called 'Kharkiv-Berlin Bridge' was organized in collaboration with the Free University of Berlin;
- Karazin students are studying at an educational hub in Munich.
During the meeting, they discussed the directions for further cooperation. Mr. Eger emphasized the crucial role of Karazin University, which is a vital component supporting life in Kharkiv. Education, culture, science, and art are the DNA of the country.
Serhiy Zhadan noted that Kharkiv is indeed a city of education, and universities, including Karazin University, are trying to preserve the city's socio-communication structure. It is crucial to maintain this system as education is our essence
