Event "Simulating Government Formation in the Bundestag"

28 february 2025 year

On February 26, a meeting on the topic "Simulating Government Formation in the Bundestag" took place in a safe space at Karazin University as part of the "Deutsches Puzzle 2025" project.

The event was the final one in a series of events organized by the Student Council of the Karazin Institute of International Relations and Travel Business. On this day, students had the opportunity to discuss the results of the parliamentary elections in Germany through a proposed simulation, presentations, and discussions.

Through exercises, the participants explored the realities of working in the Bundestag and learned how it functions. The practical knowledge gained will be useful for future specialists in various positions within international relations. At the end of the meeting, students engaged in an interesting conversation with Ivan Marchenko, Director of the Project Activities and Innovations Center at the Karazin Institute of International Relations and Travel Business, about the challenges of government formation in parliamentary democratic republics, the rights of the strong and the weak, leadership and responsibility in diplomacy, and the consequences of inertia in European politics.

"Simulation helps develop communication skills, the ability to negotiate, and make compromises. This is useful for anyone, no matter what field they will work in. Today's meeting is both practice, a training session, a scientific event, and an opportunity for students to interact live," said Ivan Marchenko.
