A Round table on Archaeological Tourism was Held
On July 25, a round table "Archaeological Monuments in the Vicinity of Babai Village" was held at the Kharkiv Tourism and Art Hub "Accessible Travel Space."
The event was part of the preparation for a comprehensive historical and scientific expedition to the village of Babai in the Kharkiv district. Recently, a new tourist and local history route "Hryhorii Skovoroda Trail" was opened there, dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the birth of the outstanding Ukrainian philosopher.
The round table was organized by the Kharkiv Organizational and Methodological Center of Tourism and two divisions of Karazin University: the Center of Ukrainian Studies and Local History named after Academician P. T. Tronko and the Museum of Archaeology. Representatives from the National Literary and Memorial Museum of Hryhorii Skovoroda in the village of Skovorodynivka and the Babai Local History Museum also participated.
The senior researcher of the Museum of Archaeology of Karazin University, Kostyantyn Pelyashenko, presented the main known archaeological monuments near the village of Babai. There was a discussion about their potential as objects for tours and stories, as well as the possibility of representing this knowledge in the informational materials of the route.
The discussion also involved the director of the university’s Tronko Center, Serhiy Kudelko, and the deputy director of the same division, Olha Vovk. Among other things, they proposed further development and informational content of the route considering the methodology of sustainable development.
