A Solemn Graduation Ceremony of Pupils within Karazin Weekends Legacy Project

31 january 2024 year

On January 27, a solemn graduation ceremony took place for the participants of Karazin Weekends Legacy!

The students' education occurred between two symbolic dates. They joined the newly created schools of Umlauf, Shadius, Shumus, and Stoixelvand on November 17 – the founding day of Karazin University. The graduation ceremony took place on January 27 – the eve of the University's Day.

Approximately 500 students from 8th to 11th grades in Kharkiv participated in the offline project. Each school and institute of Karazin University conducted offline sessions every Saturday, opening doors to the fascinating world of science.

On January 27, a ceremonial graduation of students took place in a shelter! Participants who attended more than half of the classes received the Karazin Weekends Legacy diploma, and after the ceremony, everyone interested could join a quiz and receive unique prizes.

The solemn graduation was opened by the academic student choir Ad Libitum. Rector Tetyana Kaganovska delivered the opening speech:

"These were incredible 8 weeks of the educational process! Today, you receive certificates and become part of the Karazin community. It is you who will carry the baton from the teachers, glorify our university, our unbreakable city, and heroic country!"

Participants also heard addresses from the head of the Student Council, Mykita Kucherov, and deans of their schools:

  • Director of the Institute of Physics and Technology, Pylip Kuznetsov, greeted students of Stoixelvand – the School of Exact Sciences.
  • Dean of the Chemical School , Oleg Kalugin, addressed students of Shumus – the School of Natural Sciences.
  • Dean of the Sociological School , Olena Muradian, conveyed wishes to students of Umlauf – the School of Sociohumanitarian Sciences.
  • Director of the Institute of Banking, Anna Chkhailo, spoke to students of Shadius – the School of Financial Management Sciences.

It is worth noting that the project was implemented as part of Karazin University's educational mission.

One of the main goals of Karazin Weekends Legacy is to allow schoolchildren to feel like real university students, create opportunities for offline meetings in safe spaces, and conduct career guidance activities.

We are confident that we will see these children within the walls of Karazin University again, this time as students, teachers, and researchers! Remember that children are our future, and they will write the history of Ukraine.
