The University Thrives when It has People within it.
Especially heartwarming are the meetings with such talented Ukrainians within the walls of Karazin University.
Today, the university hosted a presentation of the book "Captivity" written by Valeriya "Nava" Subotina — a Ukrainian journalist, poet, military servicewoman, and participant in the Russian-Ukrainian war.
The woman survived the occupation of her native Mariupol. She went through Azovstal and captivity. She was in Olenivka and Taganrog prison.
Her boundless resilience and strength helped her continue her life path. The book "Captivity" is about all the circles of hell that the author experienced for almost a year.
As "Nava" noted, it is important for the theme of the liberation of Azovstal defenders to be one of the leading topics in the media and emphasized the importance of supporting captive defenders: "When we saw that so many people came out to protest in Kyiv and other cities, it helped us a lot in rehabilitation. It was this understanding that we were awaited."
We thank Valeriya for the courage to tell her story. We believe that all Ukrainian defenders will return home from captivity.
